1988 Olympics Commemorative Coins
The 1988 Olympic Commemorative Coins were issued to mark the U.S. participation in the Olympic Games held in Seoul, Korea. The obverse design of the gold coin is viewed as one of the most beautiful designs of all modern commemoratives. The goddess of Victory is shown in a crown of olive leaves.The commemorative coin program included a $5 gold coin and silver dollar. The $5 gold coin was produced at West Point Mint and had mintage of 62,913 proof coins and 281,465 uncirculated coins. The silver dollar uncirculated version was in Denver and had a mintage of 191,368. The proof version from San Francisco had a mintage of 1,359,366.
