1989 Congress Bicentennial Commemorative Coins
The 1989 Congress Commemorative Coins celebrated the 200th anniversary of Congress. The coins issued as part of the program include depictions of the Capitol building, the Statue of Freedom on top of the Capitol dome, and the Mace of the House of Representatives.There was a $5 gold coin issued with final mintage of 281,465 proof coins and 62,913 uncirculated coins. The silver dollar had a mintage of 762,198 proof coins and 135,203 uncirculated coins. The clad half dollar had a mintage of 767,897 proof coins and 163,753 uncirculated coins.
