1992 Christopher Columbus Commemorative Coins
The
Christopher Columbus Commemorative Coins were issued to celebrate the 400th anniversary of his arrival in the New World. Three differently designed coins were issued including a $5 gold coin, silver dollar, and copper nickel clad half dollar.The designs of the coin featured images of Christopher Columbus on the obverse. The reverse featured images of his ships, a split view of a ship and a space shuttle, and a sailing chart and crest. The gold coins were minted at West Point and the other coins were minted at either the Philadelphia, Denver, or San Francisco Mints. All coins were available in proof or uncirculated versions.
