1997 National Law Enforcement Commemorative Coins

Although the maximum authorized mintage for the 1997 National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Silver Dollar was 500,000, sales occurred at such a low level that the coins became a later rarity.

On the obverse design is an image of two police officers taking a rubbing of a fallen officer's name. On the reverse is a shield and rose with the inscription "To Serve and Protect".

The mintage of the uncirculated coin was just 28,575, representing the scarcer version. The proof coin had a mintage of 110,428.
