1999 Yellowstone Commemorative Coins
The Yellowstone National Park Silver Dollar was issued to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the park's establishment by Congress. The obverse of the coin depicts an unnamed geyser, although most assume this is Old Faithful. The reverse of the coin depicts an American Bison or Buffalo with a rising sun in the background.
The issue was relatively popular, selling about half of the authorized mintage. Following the general pattern for commemorative silver dollars, the uncirculated version had a lower mintage.
