2001 Capitol Visitor Center Commemorative Coins
The United States Mint issued commemorative coins for the Capitol Visitor Center in 2001. The program included the $5 gold coin, silver dollar, and clad composition half dollar. This was the first time in several years that three coins had been issued for a single program. Total distribution was low for the uncirculated versions of the $5 gold coin and the silver dollar. Final mintages for these issues were 6,761 and 35,380, respectively. Both now trade on the secondary market at premium prices. The other releases of the program are generally more available.
