2002 Salt Lake City Olympics Commemorative Coins
The United States Mint issued commemorative coins for the Winter Olympic Games held in Salt Lake City. This would be the last time commemorative coins were authorized for the Olympics, as the topics selected shifted in the following years. Two coins were issued, which included $5 gold coins and silver dollars. The silver dollars were struck at Philadelphia, while the gold coins were struck at West Point.
As had been the case with other contemporary issues, the lowest mintages were for the uncirculated versions of the coins, at 40,257 for the silver dollar and 10,585 for the gold coin.
