2003 First Flight Commemorative Coins


2002 West Point Commemorative CoinsA single commemorative coin program was authorized for 2003. The three coins included in the program marked the 100th anniversary of the First Flight or Orville and Wilbur Wright.

The top selling coin was the silver dollar, followed by the clad composition half dollar, and finally the gold coin. The designs featured conjoined portraits of the two figures and various images of their Flyer, which made the historic flight. The half dollar features the Wright Monument located at Kill Devil Hill near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
